Mike Bascom

Mike Bascom is the founder and senior attorney of Bascom Law, P.C., an estate planning law and elder law firm based in Cumming, Georgia. His goal for clients facing challenging life decisions is to walk away with peace of mind.

Mike earned his Juris Doctorate Degree in 1989 from the University of Virginia School of Law. He earned his bachelor’s degree (Economics) from Brigham Young University in 1986, where he was a Presidential Scholar. 

Mike is admitted to the State bars of Florida and Georgia, the Middle District of Florida Federal District Court, the Northern District of Georgia Federal District Court, and the United States Tax Court.

Mike represents clients in estate planning and elder law matters, including: wills, revocable trusts, irrevocable trusts, asset protection, estate tax reduction, capital gains tax minimization, probate avoidance, Medicaid eligibility, Veteran’s benefits, probate and estate administration matters.

Mike is a member of the Fiduciary Law section of the Georgia Bar and the Elder Law section of the Florida Bar. He is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, WealthCounsel, ElderCounsel, and the Life Care Planning Law Firm Association.

Mike has served on the Advisory Council and faculty for Seniors Enriched Living, Inc. He is the founder and executive director of the nonprofit Georgia Helping Hands Foundation: a National Heritage Foundation.

Mike served three terms as the Chairman of the Georgia Forum for the National Network of Estate Planning Attorneys. He also was the organizer of the regional conference for the Mid-South Forum of the same organization.

Mike is a contributing author to four books on wealth planning: Legacy: Plan Protect and Preserve Your Estate, Ways & Means: Maximize The Value of Your Retirement Savings, Generations: Planning Your Legacy, and Strictly Business: Planning Strategies for Privately Owned Businesses.

Mike lives in Cumming, Georgia with his wife. They are the parents of five children and three grandchildren. In his free time, Mike enjoys visiting national parks, coaching youth basketball, and volunteering at his church.
